IMI Critical Engineering Inside Sales Engineer - New Construction in Houston, Texas


The Inside Sales Engineer will work in a highly dynamic, team environment and contribute to the success of a business segment essential to company growth. Position plays a critical role in the selling process and provides a firm foundation for career advancement.


  • Primary responsibility for responding to RFQ’s with the preparation and delivery of proposals to customers within the defined lead times. Coordinates with customers, Outside Sales, Sales Representatives in a specific sales region to convince prospective customer of the value offered by CCI products and services

  • Plays a key role in the development and implementation of sales strategies for the projects in the region of responsibility

  • Review blueprints, plans, schematics, P&IDs., Isometrics and other customer technical and commercial specifications to develop and prepare technical solution and cost estimates for our customers

  • Responsible for accurate sizing, design selection and error free proposal preparation including execution and organization of contract Risk Review Process

  • Conducts technical discussion with customers on all projects to identify issues and offer creative solutions that exceed customer expectations

  • Identify key decision makers/players, and critical info for strategy development

  • Knowledge in the domain market, industry segment and potential solutions by competition

  • Partner with Operation (Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing) team to solve technical and commercial issues that arise during the proposal stage

  • Meet customers to present technical solutions and close sales on high value project

  • Analyze control valve problems at customer site and recommend corrective actio

  • Supports Key accounts through customer visits, understanding customer needs, customer education, data analysis and value selling

  • Analyze the history of won and lost projects to arrive at appropriate market pricing for each account


  • BS science/technical degree, preferrably in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 0-2 years experience

  • Externally focused with a drive to fully understand and exceed customer needs

  • Demonstrates ownership, initiative, clear thinking, self-motivation and proven leadership capabilities

  • Candidate must have strong oral & written communication skills in English to include the ability to provide group presentations in a seminar environment and capable to coordinate highly technical discussions with product development and project engineering teams – further languages are a plus

  • Excellent time management, organizational, Presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Understanding of Oil & Gas process as well as the basics of control valves and applications is preferred, but not essential. Fresh graduates can also apply

  • Computer Skills - Proficient with MS office products and technical sizing programs for flow control elements and actuation

  • Technical skills – Ability to read manufacturing drawings, P&ID’s and understand Oil & Gas systems & process applications would be an advantage
