IMI Critical Engineering Sales Operations / Business Analyst in Rancho Santa Margarita, California

Works closely with IMI CCI Americas business unit sales and sales ops team to drive sales performance, market outlook & order momentum. Formulates and applies mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods using a computer to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, demand planning or other managerial functions.


Expected Deliverables

  • Maintain data integrity of internal sales tools and CRM systems.

  • Contribute to ongoing development and improvement of CCI’s sales systems and tools.

  • Assist in management of sales force training on sales systems developments and upgrades.

  • Assist in preparation and monitoring of Sales System KPIs to ensure accuracy and completeness of project data.

  • Utilize CCI’s sales systems to maximize ability to track projects, monitor forecasts and extract market intelligence from project data.

  • Assessment of win/loss sales trends and marketing strategies.

  • Generate sales reports and business development insights.

  • Monitoring and analysis of bookings performance against targets. Resolve booking discrepancies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to construct standard operating procedures (SOP’s), training documentation, performance dashboards and value-added tools.

  • Analyze information obtained from external and internal sources to conceptualize market intelligence.

  • Assist in the development of business value propositions.

  • Drive regional & global coordination, best practice sharing and process implementation.

  • Have the imagination and initiative to develop and recommend additional reporting, where there may be no established approach, which will be used by management to improve efficiency, accuracy and financial performance.

  • Formulate mathematical or simulation models of problems, relating constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters.

  • Perform validation and testing of models to ensure adequacy and reformulate models as necessary.

  • Collaborate with senior managers and decision makers to identify and solve a variety of problems and to clarify management objectives.

  • Define data requirements and gather and validate information, applying judgment and statistical analysis.

  • Study and analyze information about alternative courses of action to determine which plan will offer the best outcomes.

  • Prepare management reports defining and evaluating problems and recommending solutions.

  • Collaborate with others in the organization to ensure successful implementation of chosen problem solutions.

  • Works with sales representatives to identify opportunities for improvement and attends quarterly regional action planning meetings.

  • Conduct external market analysis and peer group analytics.


Experience / Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Driven to achieve and exceed goals successfully.

  • Practical knowledge of CRM tools i.e.

  • Knowledge of business and management principals involved in strategic planning.

  • Knowledge in mathematics, computers, mainframe systems, ERP’s, MS Office applications.

  • Knowledge of Business Objects, Crystal Reports and other useful database management tools.

  • Knowledge of database user interface and query software.

  • Knowledge of Fossil Power and Oil & Gas production applications and markets.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ME, AE, EE, etc), Marketing, accounting or Business Administration from four-year College or university is desired plus 1 to 3 years of experience in engineering/ manufacturing environment.

  • Lean Six Sigma training/certification a plus.
