Overview

This position manages and coordinates activities of warehouse and inventory control employees engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities Receiving, Shipping, and the Stockroom

  • Supervises employees, contractors, and suppliers who work in the Receiving, Shipping, and Stockroom areas

  • Collaborates and coordinates with interdependent departments within the company to solve problems

  • Directs movement of purchased parts to receiving, inspected parts to inventory storage, inventoried parts to manufacturing assembly, and then finished parts to shipping

  • Oversees outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, adequacy, and on-time completion

  • Maintains visibility of unfilled customer orders

  • Ensures inventory cycle counts are done regularly and accurately, and that any significant count variances are investigated and resolved promptly

  • Studies, standardizes, and improves Receiving, Shipping, and Stockroom processes to improve efficiency

  • Solicits and implements continuous improvement ideas from subordinates

  • Maintains Standard Operating Procedures and training records for Receiving, Shipping, and the Stockroom

  • Cross-trains employees in Receiving, Shipping, and the Stockroom to the extent that each function can be performed by at least three employees

  • Conducts annual performance reviews for Receiving, Shipping, and the Stockroom employees

  • Manages planned overtime for Receiving, Shipping, and the Stockroom

  • Organizes and presents the day’s critical goals and objectives to management during the morning review

  • Arranges for disposal of surplus materials

  • Manages all special projects for Receiving, Shipping, and the Stockroom

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; BA degree preferred;

  • 5 – 7 years supervisory/management experience

  • At least 2 years of inventory/materials management experience

  • Demonstrated working concepts of Lean manufacturing

  • Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • ERP system use 3+years; IFS preferred
